Marilyn entered the film industry on the Production side and joined LAIKA as an Art/Design Coordinator in 2019. But in 2022, she made the jump to Recruiting. “I was looking for a role where I could assist in the growth and development of others, particularly those who are just starting their professional journeys,” she says.

Animator Spotlight: Kristian Larsen

Originally from Norway, Kristian relocated to Oregon to join LAIKA’s Missing Link Animation team in 2017. “It was a very exciting opportunity for me, since I had always wished to be part of a big stop-motion feature film and experience all that comes with it,” he says. Working on Wildwood, with its “epic size and all the different characters,” has been next level.

While the desire to step outside her comfort zone and experience a more imaginative work environment first drew Katelyn to LAIKA in 2017, it’s the people who keep her here all these years later. “LAIKA has some of the most creative, friendly, and interesting people I have ever worked with,” Katelyn says. “Being able to talk with others in a plethora of fields — woodworking, metalworking, electrical engineering, you name it — really makes this place special.”
